Liz Leer equaled her career high with 18 points and Stephanie N’Garsanet grabbed 11 rebounds as American defeated Bucknell 50-46 in women’s basketball action at Sojka Pavilion Wednesday night. Hope Foster (Washington, D.C./Dunbar) led the Bison with 17 points, the 10th time in the last 11 games she netted double figures.
In her second career start Joyce Novacek recorded her first career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds and Lauren Schober led five Bison in double figures with 17 points as the Bucknell women’s basketball team held off a pesky Navy squad for a 65-50 victory. The Bison have now won two straight games and are 10-12 overall and 5-3 in Patriot League play, just one game behind first-place Army and Holy Cross. The Mids fell to 5-18 overall and 1-7 in conference play.
Bucknell head men’s basketball coach Pat Flannery has been given full clearance to return to his coaching duties and will be on the bench when the Bison travel to Navy on Saturday for a 7 p.m. contest.

Holy Cross’ Bethany O’Dell snapped an 0-for-10 day with a long 3-pointer from the left wing with just less than a minute to play to propel the Crusaders to a 48-46 victory over Bucknell in women’s basketball action Sunday afternoon at Sojka Pavilion in front of 2,017 fans, the third-highest attendance for a women’s basketball game at the five-year-old facility. Kesha Champion (Chesapeake, Va./Indian River), who hit a two key 3-pointers of her own in the final minutes, led Bucknell with 13 points.
Lauren Schober paced four Bison in double figures with 17 points and Kesha Champion added 15 points and a career-high 11 assists as the Bucknell women’s basketball team opened Patriot League play with a 71-45 victory over Navy Saturday night at Alumni Hall. It was the third consecutive year the Bison began their conference schedule with a win of at least 20 points against the Mids.
