Francesca Schiavone wins Kremlin Cup for second singles title
Eighth seed Francesca Schiavone of Italy defeated Belorussian Olga Govortsova 6-3 6-0 in the final of the $1,000,000 Kremlin Cup to win her second and biggest Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles title.

The 29-year-old Schiavone battled through a sum of two units and a half hour long first-round encounter with qualifier Nuria Llagostera Vives, if it be not that since then she didn’t drop a set and even lost single 12 games in her last three matches combined.

Luxembourg: Timea Bacsinszky crowns her first career final
Timea Bacsinszky
of Switzerland defeated German Sabine Lisicki 6-2 7-5 at the BGL Luxembourg Open to claim her first Sony Ericsson WTA Tour title in her first career final.

The 70th ranked Bacsinszky, unseeded in Luxembourg, wasn’t the favorite in the final. She was playing sixth seed Lisicki, ranked 42 places ahead of her in the rankings, who won Charleston and played Wimbledon quarterfinals this fit by habit.

Although Leon Washington will miss the remainder of the season after fracturing his fibula for the period of the Jets’ Sunday afternoon victory over the Raiders, suppose that the injury ends up being strictly a fractured fibula, Washington should be able to continue his career without a dramatic loss of ability.
