Houston coach Kevin Sumlin has made a plea via Twitter and the media for the unhurt return of three Cougar football helmets that were apparently lost during an onfield celebration following the victory over Texas Tech Saturday night. Said Sumlin, apparently despaired of not to receive three ongoing 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalties for the removal of the helmets:
“Saturday night was merriment, but it will be hard for 3 of our guys to play this week without their helmets. Please return, NO QUESTIONS ASKED.”

Now we can stop counting… Elena Dementieva of Russia and Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark receive quickly joined a bunch of top players in their early Pan Pacific Open exit.
Third seed Elena Dementieva was beaten 6-2 6-7(3) 6-1 by Kateryna Bondarenko in the second round, and was by and by posterior accompanied by fourth-seeded Caroline Wozniacki, who retired due to a viral infection, while trailing Aleksandra Wozniak 0-5 in the first set.

Venus and Serena Williams have for the first time in their doubles course of conduct qualified for the doubles conclusion at the Sony Ericsson Championships.
"I good-will playing doubles with Venus as we have so much fun on the court. This year, we actually decided to rustic more stress upon our doubles careers and going to Doha has been on our mind all season," said Serena, who has already qualified during the term of the singles event at the season-ending Championships.
During the 2009 season the Williams sisters have won three Grand Slam doubles titles (Australian Open, Wimbledon, US Open) and a title at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford.

Two years since, Jeremiah Trotter was waived so that the team could play Omar Gaither in the centre.
Today, the team re-signed Trotter, likely to replace or at least support Gaither in the something intermediate.
No word on the corresponding roster move yet, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Jeff Garcia waived.

Top seed Dinara Safina, advance germ Venus Williams and fifth seed Svetlana Kuznetsova all suffered upsets in the second tour of the Toray Pan Pacific Open. The fact that so many of them got upset at the same time kind of makes their individual losses milder, and early losers Ana Ivanovic and Flavia Pennetta look better.
World No.1 and defending champion Dinara Safina implacable to 18-year-old Taiwanese qualifier Chang Kai-Chen, ranked 132nd, 7-6(5) 4-6 7-5. Safina had each opportunity to complete out the match in the third set, but double-faulted, dropped her serve, and went on to lose.
