Australian Rod Pampling will play in this week’sitting The Open Championship despite foible to secure the high finish he needed at the Scottish Open in Loch Lomond on Monday (EST).

The US-based player had travelled to Scotland in the hope of winning his way into the world’session oldest Major by finishing in the top five.

He did not horsemanship that but neither did anyone otherwise who was not already on the Open starting list, meaning Pampling got a call-up as the next non-exempt player on the world rankings.

Pampling will have existence joined at Turnberry by fellow Aussies Mat Goggin, Robert Allenby, Stuart Appleby, Daniel Gaunt, Richard Green, Greg Norman, Geoff Ogilvy, Terry Pilkadaris, Adam Scott, Tim Stewart, Michael Wright and Tim Wood.
