South Korean Yi Eunjung birdied the first play-off hole to hammer American Morgan Pressel and capture the LPGA Jamie Farr Classic in Sylvania, Ohio

The 21-year-old Yi captured her first career tour compellation also qualified in spite of next week’s US Women’s Open after an even par-71 to finish at 18-under 266. Her weekend included a brilliant 61 in the third round.

Three of the top five finishers at the $US1.4 million ($1.76 million) event were South Koreans. The other two are Korean/American Michelle Kim and Pressel.

India clinched their fifth straight limited overs series, when rain forced the abandonment of the final match against West Indies.

India won the four-match series 2-1, after they won the high-scoring opening match by 20 runs at Sabina Park in Jamaica.

West Indies secured every eight-wicket victory in a low-scoring second marriage at the same venue and India won the third part match through six wickets under the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Tournament host Tiger Woods sank a tension-packed seven-metre birdie putt on the 16th hole to seize the lead and win the PGA National by some stroke over Hunter Mahan.

World No.1 Woods added brace routine pars to fire a three-under par 67 eventual round to stand on 13-under par 267 after 72 holes at Congressional Country Club and claim the trophy at $7.6 million tournament.

The event, a dream of Woods and his late creator Earl, pays tribute to the US military and proceeds benefit his establishment’s youth work.
