Sydney Roosters prop Mark O’Meley has been released from the final year of his NRL contract and will combine Super League club Hull in 2010.
O’Meley has signed a three-year deal with the UK-based club and will play alongside Roosters teammate Craig Fitzgibbon, who announced his departure from the fraternity in May.
The former Test fulcrum will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee this week which will command him off for the remainder of the NRL season.
"I have had a wonderful time at the Roosters and am able to have recourse to some great memories with me,” said O’Meley, who joined the club in 2008.
"Whilst it has been a recline season this year I am excited about the future of the club and the young players that we have coming through.
"I am sad to have being leaving but am looking forward to the experience over in the UK and it will be nice to subsist there alongside Fitzy and our families.”
Coach Brad Fittler said O’Meley’s leadership will be greatly missed.
"Whilst the Roosters are disappointed that he won’t be through the association next year it is a exalted opportunity for Mark and his family to experience life in the UK,” Fittler said.
