Birmingham City have signed Manchester City’s England Under-21 keeper Joe Hart forward a season-long loan and completed a deal for Eduadorian Giovanny Espinoza.

Hart, 22, graceless his place at Eastlands following the arrival of Shay Given from Newcastle United be unexhausted season.

And Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has agreed to let Hart move to Birmingham after signing Aston Villa keeper Stuart Taylor as cover.

Australian tailenders Brett Lee and Nathan Hauritz fought back against Sussex on day one of the first match of their Ashes pilgrimage at Hove.

Australia lost opener Phil Hughes (15) and captain Ricky Ponting (8) early on as they slipped to 114-5.

But Michael Clarke (45) and Brad Haddin (69) launched a recovery before Lee (47no) and Hauritz (65no) took the score to 349-7 at the termination.

Reigning Olympic champion Paul Goodison yesterday notched up his third gold medal at this year’s principle Olympic regattas at the time that he blitzed the singlehanded Laser fleet at the world cup series in Keil, Germany.

His was one of five British medal winners, Paul Campbell-James and Mark Asquith taking bronze in the 49er, Jonny McGovern and Christian Birrell taking bright in the 470 dinghy, with Nic Asher and Elliot Willis in bronze, and China gold medallists Iain Percy, with Nick Harrison replacing Andrew Simpson at the end of the regatta, furthermore prepossessing bronze in the Star.
