Feb. 16, 2008

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The fourth-ranked Oklahoma men’s gymnastics team posted its best score of the season, and Sooner gymnasts swept all six event titles en route to a 357.750-338.050 road victory over No. 10 Iowa Saturday afternoon.  The Sooners’ team total was the fourth-highest score registered by any team in NCAA competition this season.

Rodriguez finds himself still on the path of redemption in 2008; largely because of his loss to Jesse Feliciano last March. The talented welter from Danbury, Connecticut, via the Dominican Republic was clearly leading his opponent until Feliciano dropped Rodriguez three times in the 8th and the contest was called off by referee Charles Dwyer at 2:42 mark.

What followed for Rodriguez in August was also unsettling. Either a clean counter right hand, or a second round clash of heads opened a nasty gash over Keenan Collins’ left eye and with blood curling down the side of his face the fight was halted and ruled, “no-contest” after the second stanza of a bout scheduled for ten heats. Referee Eddie Claudio maintained the wound was the result of an accidental headbutt, however, ringside monitors appeared to reveal it was a punch rather than Rodriguez’s skull opened the cut that forced the fight to be stopped. Fortunately for Rodriguez that bout was overturned by the New York State Athletic Commission.

The Cliffs – My CT Winter Golf Fantasy

I’ve been daydreaming a lot lately. Midwinter in CT has that effet on me. We spend a lot of time indoors during February. Even a simple trip to the driving range, is out of the question on icy, gray days with grounds covered in snow and winds whipping wildly.

My winter reveries are often inspired by virtual meanderings across the seductice landscape of the internet. Not long ago on a particularly dark and bitter day I discovered what is currently my ultimate fantasy. That day google search for “Luxury Golf Communities” led me to The Cliffs, a place where dreams (and daydreams) appear to come true… that is, if your dreams involve attractive people frolicking in gorgeous landscapes, playing relaxed rounds on masterfully designed courses. …and isn’t that what everyone fanasizes about?
