Costa do Sauipe, Brazil (Sports Network) - Second-seeded Spaniard Nicolas Almagro and fifth-seeded Italian Filippo Volandri were a pair of easy second- round winners Thursday at the clay-court Brasil Open.
Almagro erased Serbian Boris Pashanski 6-2, 6-3, while Volandri vaulted past Argentine Guillermo Coria 6-1, 6-2 at Costa do Sauipe-Salvador. Almagro and Volandri will square off in Friday’s quarterfinals here.
This week’s champion will collect $77,300.
