Top-three event finishes by Horton and Legendre highlight OU performances in Las Vegas.

NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma gymnasts produced several strong performances in Saturday night’s finals competition at the 2008 Winter Cup Challenge in Las Vegas, Nev. Highlights of the two-day USA Gymnastics event included top-three finishes by senior Jonathan Horton on the still rings and freshman Steven Legendre on the floor exercise.

Both teams fought fiercely for possession but chances were scarce
Chelsea and Liverpool fought out a gritty goalless draw at Stamford Bridge which did little for the differing aspirations of either side.
The visitors, missing the injured Fernando Torres in attack, had the best of the first half with Peter Crouch shooting just wide on 18 minutes.

Top seed Anna Chakvetadze defeated seventh-seeded Agnes Szavay 6-3 2-6 6-2 and became the Open Gaz de France champion for the first time in her career.
With this victory, the Russian extended her perfect career record in finals to 7-0.
At tomorrow's new ranking, Anna Chakvetadze will be one spot higher, at No.6, while Agnes Szavay will reach No.18 for the first time in her career (if she had won the tournament in Paris she would have become world No.17).

Oklahoma faces Wisconsin-Green Bay at 10 a.m. Sunday morning

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - No. 36 Oklahoma (3-1) earned the doubles point and picked up three singles victories to defeat No. 52 Minnesota (1-3), by a margin of 4-3, at the Baseline Center on Saturday night.
OU jumped out to the early lead as the Sooners won all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.

Kiara Redmond-Sturms wins fifth all-round title of the year

DENVER, Colo. – A capacity crowd of 2,195 witnessed the No. 6 OU women’s gymnastics squad remain undefeated on the year as the Sooners posted a team score of 195.925 in outlasting No. 13 Denver (195.700), Utah State (192.275) and Air Force (186.400). Senior Kiara Redmond-Sturms won her fifth all-around title of the season as the All-American posted a 39.275.
The Sooners picked up event titles on bars (49.050) and floor (49.300), as Mary Mantle (vault-9.9), Redmond-Sturms (bars-9.875, floor-9.9) and Haley DeProspero (beam-9.850) swept the individual event titles.

Bob and Mike Bryan
LONDON – The United States began its Davis Cup defence by opening up an unassailable 3-0 lead over Austria after Bob and Mike Bryan won their doubles match on Saturday.
The Bryan brothers beat Julian Knowle and Jurgen Melzer 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 for the U.S. team to move into the April 11-13 quarterfinals against France.
