PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Tim Herron was so frustrated that he changed putters for the first time in seven years at a tournament renowned for having some of the most unpredictable greens on the PGA Tour.

Agnes Szavay of Hungary beat Slovakia's Daniela Hantuchova 7-6 6-1 to advance to the semifinals of the Open Gaz de France in Paris.
Second-seeded Hantuchova took a 4-1 lead in the first set, but seventh-seeded Szavay recovered and eventually took the tiebreak 7-4. In the second game of the second set Hantuchova received treatment on her right hand and had it bandaged. After that, she lost five consecutive games, and hence the match, but she refused to blame the defeat solely on the injury.
CENTRAL Coast striker Sasho Petrovski admits he is at odds with coach Lawrie McKinna’s conservative gameplan for the A-League major semi-final against Newcastle.

Down 2-0 to Newcastle after the first leg and needing at least three goals to advance straight to the grand final, Mariners coach McKinna has resisted calling for his side to come out all guns blazing in the return leg and instead preached caution in the lengthy build up to the Bluetongue Stadium clash.

Hard-hitting undefeated junior middleweight Vanes “Nightmare” Martirosyan (19-0, 13 KO’s) easily dispatched outgunned Michi “El Matador” Munoz (20-2, 13 KO’s) to score a third round TKO.
Martirosyan (155) dropped Munoz (156) at 1:30 of the opening stanza in a bout scheduled for ten rounds with a whistling counter left hook to the head. The 21-year-old Martirosyan, Glendale, California via Abovyan, Armenia was simply the classier fight and he continued to land the heavier artillery in the abbreviated contest.
