SYDNEY FC have received a double dose of good news with Iain Fyfe and Robbie Middleby both cleared to play in the second leg of the A-League minor semi-final.

Midfielder Middleby had been in doubt after suffering a hamstring strain in the first leg against Queensland while Fyfe was expected to come under scrutiny for an off the ball incident involving Roar attacker Michael Zullo.

Both, though, will be available for the match at Suncorp Stadium on February 8, with the tie all square after a 0-0 draw in the opening game in Sydney.

NORMAN, Okla. – Tickets for the Bedlam women’s basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 23, have sold out. 

Only restricted admission tickets remain for those who wish to see No. 21 Oklahoma State visit No. 11 Oklahoma at the Lloyd Noble Center.  Restricted admission seats are sold on the day of the game and will begin when doors open at 11:30 a.m.

I guess Nate Jaqua really likes being around Joseph Ngwenya because he is about to move to the same Austrian league (link via SBI). The club that Jaqua will now call home is SCR Altach, who currently stand in eighth place (out of 10).

Jaqua is another quality player leaving Houston, meaning the team is starting to look a bit lost up top. There has been talk about Dwayne DeRosario moving up top with Brian Ching and Stuart Holden sliding into the more attacking midfielder role, which should work well. However, no matter how you look at it, the team has lost some serious depth.

Welcome to the brand new CONCACAF Champions League. Concacaf has announced the plans and dates for the first CCL starting this September. Twenty-four teams in total will participate in the inaugural go around. There will be four teams each from the USA’s Major League Soccer and Mexico’s First Division, three Caribbean sides, two from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama; and one coming from Canada, Belize, and Nicaragua.

The tournament is comprised of three phases, qualification, group and knockout. Eight teams will earn seeds directly into the group phase (2 from USA, 2 from Mexico, 1 each from Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador), while the 16 other teams will be paired off in eight home-home series. The winner of the series will advance to the group stages.

CSA reaches settlement with Nykamp

OTTAWA – The Canadian Soccer Association and Fred Nykamp have reached an out-of-court settlement.

Nykamp sued the national soccer organization for more than $1.75 million in a bizarre case in October, claiming wrongful hiring and firing.
