WHL: Medicine Hat dominates Oil Kings

WHL

The power-play unit was firing on all cylinders Sunday as Medicine Hat continued to assert their dominance over the Oil Kings.

Bretton Cameron scored two and the Tigers went a near-perfect 4-for-5 on the power play en route to crushing Edmonton 7-1.

The Tigers are now 6-0 in the series.

Recent Top Prospects star and Edmonton native Tyler Ennis kicked the puck to his stick in the slot after a pass from Brennan Bosch behind the net for the eventual game-winner.

Two goals within 26 seconds from Jerrid Sauer and Ennis put the Tigers up 2-0 in the first. Sauer’s point blast deflected off Brent Henke’s stick on its way in.

About three minutes later, Bosch set up Yashar Farmanara in the high slot for a wrist shot just underneath the blocker of Edmonton goalie Alex Archibald.

Bosch’s pair of assists extended his point streak to eight games (3-10), including a three point night against Edmonton back on January 22.

Elsewhere in the WHL, it was: Seattle 3 Americans 1; Lethbridge 8 Blazers 1; Red Deer 4 Winter Hawks 1; Spokane 5 Bruins 2; Hitmen 9 Wheat Kings 2; Pats 5 Blades 4.

At Edmonton, Thomas Frazee extended the Tigers’ lead to 4-0 with a sniper shot over the glove of Dalyn Flette, who replaced Archibald to start the second.

In the third, Cameron notched a pair and Daine Todd added his 18th of the year to give the Tigers a seven-goal margin.

Tomas Vosvrda’s shutout bid was broken by Craig McCallum 8:54 into the third as the right-winger swooped in, burying a rebound off a shot by centre Brent Raedeke.
