Wimbledon finalist Marion Bartoli and Hungarian sensation Agnes Szavay lost in the first round of the Australian Open. I didn't expect these two members of the top 20 to leave Melbourne so early.
No.10 seed Marion Bartoli, France’s best-ranked WTA player, lost to world No.80 Sofia Arvidsson of Sweden 6-7, 6-4, 6-3.

Miami has matched the best start in school history mostly from the comfort of south Florida. If the 21st-ranked Hurricanes hope to continue it, however, they’ll have to end two dubious losing streaks.
Miami will play its first road game in more than a month Tuesday when it visits Boston College, hoping to end a seven-game road losing streak in ACC play and a 12-game skid to the Eagles.

Johnny Unser
The Unser name will once again be a fixture in the Champ Car series as Johnny Unser has been named the Race Director for the Atlantic series.
The 49-year-old Unser will be responsible for calling all Champ Car Atlantic races, as well as dealing with procedural issues and judgmental officiating calls. He will work closely with Champ Car World Series Executive Vice President, Operations Tony Cotman, who also serves as the Race Director for all Champ Car events.
Unser joins the Champ Car Atlantic Championship in addition to his role as Technical Advisor for Cooper Tire & Rubber Company.

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. - The Prince Albert Raiders have fired general manager Donn Clark, the Western Hockey Team announced Monday.
Head coach Bruno Campese will assume GM duties for the rest of the season, at which point the board of directors will re-assess the position.
”This has been a very difficult decision for the board of directors, but one we had to make to move our organization forward,” Raiders president Dale McFee said in a release. ”Donn Clark has provided a tremendous service to the Raiders the past eight seasons and we want to thank him for his loyalty, hard work and dedication.

CRICKET’S great war is over after Australia and India Monday night made peace and the tourists dropped a racial abuse charge against Brad Hogg.
On another dramatic night, warring captains Ricky Ponting and Anil Kumble shook hands and declared the rest of the summer would be played in "great spirit" after their face-to-face private meeting.
This preceded Hogg’s hearing, which quickly ended in a stunning fashion when the tourists dropped a charge with match referee Mike Procter despite believing they would have won the case.
