Tottenham Hotspur are willing to listen to offers for Jermain Defoe as head coach Juande Ramos plans a clear-out of his squad. Unsurprisingly Ramos has also identified Darren Bent as surplus to requirements although it is understood that the striker, who is desperate to leave, will have to stay until the summer because no club will come close to paying the £16.5m Spurs committed last year when he arrived from Charlton Athletic. Bent will not be allowed to go on loan.

* BRISTOL CITY Manager Gary Johnson said he was disappointed to see supporters leaving early during City’s 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough on Saturday. “We really appreciate the fans coming here but we need their support for 90 or 93 minutes,” he said. “It is soul-destroying sometimes when you want to give it a big push and you see half the crowd leaving.”

Drake guard Josh Young, the leading scorer in the Missouri Valley Conference, is out indefinitely with a sprained right ankle.
Young is averaging 16.3 points per game and has keyed Drake’s 13-1 start, the best in school history. The sophomore injured his ankle Wednesday night early in the second half of Drake’s 75-50 win over Indiana State and did not return.
Drake has won 12 straight and is 4-0 in the Valley for the first time since 1970.

Ibanez’s final game came against Argentina last year
France captain Raphael Ibanez has announced his retirement from international rugby.
The 34-year-old said he would carry on playing with Wasps at least until the end of the season.
He has represented Les Bleus 98 times since his debut in 1996, with 41 of those caps coming as skipper.
