MELBOURNE-based sports commentator Clinton Grybas has died, aged 32. Grybas was a stalwart of FOX SPORTS AFL coverage and commentator with radio station 3AW in Melbourne.
Staff at 3AW became concerned this morning when he failed to turn up early to prepare to host the Sports Today show. He was found at his apartment and rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
General manager of 3AW, Graham Mott, said his death had not yet sunk in.

The Bucknell wrestling team held a 6-5 lead after three bouts, but could not fend off No. 8 Missouri, falling by the score of 30-9 on Friday evening in the Hearnes Center. With the loss, the Bison drop to 3-5, while the Tigers remain undefeated at 5-0.
After a 16-1 technical fall by 125-pounder John Olanowski over freshman José Matos (Williamstown, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) gave Missouri a 5-0 advantage, sophomore David Marble (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville Central), ranked No. 20 in the latest InterMat/NWCA/NWMA Division I Individual Rankings, responded by upsetting No. 9 Tyler McCormick in the 133-pound bout.

BALTIMORE — Olympic gold medalist Dorothy Hamill is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
Hamill said in a statement Friday that she is being treated at the Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. The prognosis is favorable, but the 51-year-old Hamill said she will miss some of the “Broadway on Ice” tour while she is having treatment. She hopes to rejoin the tour in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where the tour stops on Jan. 16-17.

According to the Dallas Morning News, SMU has let it be known that they are prepared to offer Hawaii HC June Jones between $1.7 million and $2 million per year and Jones will interview with the Mustangs tomorrow in Dallas.
…[June Jone's agent Leigh] Steinberg on Friday confirmed that he and Jones are in discussions with SMU. Steinberg said Jones received permission from Hawaii to explore other options shortly before Christmas. Steinberg handled the discussions as Jones was preparing Hawaii for the Sugar Bowl. Talks have picked up since Hawaii’s season ended with a 41-10 loss to Georgia.

THE Dakar Rally has been cancelled because of security concerns, race organisers have announced.
The race had been due to start in Lisbon this weekend but the murder of four French tourists in Mauritania on December 24 led to the French Government advising against any travel to the country.
The rally was due to pass through Mauritanian territory for nine days from January 11-19 before finishing in Dakar on January 20.
