Hamilton Bulldogs
ROCKFORD, Ill. _ Jaroslav Halak came within 1:14 of his second consecutive shutout to lead the Hamilton Bulldogs to a 2-1 win over the Rockford IceHogs in American Hockey League action on Wednesday night.
Halak made 35 saves on 36 shots. Troy Brouwer stopped Halak’s shutout streak at 143:53 with his team-leading 16th goal of the season late in the game.
Matt D’Agostini and Mathieu Carle scored for Hamilton (12-14-1-5).
After a scoreless first period, Matt D’Agostini gave Hamilton a 1-0 lead at 10:54 of the second. D’Agostini walked into Rockford’s zone and snapped a high wrist shot past netminder Corey Crawford.
The Bulldogs went up 2-0 about three minutes later when D’Agostini set up Mathieu Carle’s eventual game-winning goal.
Rockford out shot Hamilton 36-18 in the game and 16-4 in the third period, but the Bulldogs hung on for the 2-1 victory.
Neither team was successful on the power play, as the Bulldogs were 0-for-2 and the IceHogs went 0-for-4 with the man advantage.
