CENTRAL Coast coach Lawrie McKinna has been keeping a close eye on his players’ body language this week and is sure the Mariners aren’t about to choke in their bid for the A-League minor premiership.
Frontrunners for all but one week of the season, Central Coast have begun to look somewhat vulnerable at the top of the table in recent weeks after just one win in four games and two losses – the last a heartbreaking 5-4 defeat against Sydney FC which saw key defender Dean Heffernan suffer a season-ending broken leg.

John Griffin scored 15 points and Justin Castleberry capped a 12-point night by hitting two game-clinching free throws with 9.3 seconds left, leading Bucknell to a 61-57 victory over Long Beach State Saturday evening in the third-place game of the Golden Bear Classic at Haas Pavilion. G.W. Boon added 12 points in his first career start and Josh Linthicum had another big night with nine points, including three monumental buckets in the closing minutes, and a career-high 12 rebounds.
The Bison snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 5-7 on the season. Bucknell continued to struggle shooting the ball in certain stretches, but the Bison used much-improved ball movement to knock down 11 timely 3-pointers in 33 attempts.

Free Agent reliever LaTroy Hawkins, who filled a middle relief and set-up role for the Colorado Rockies in 2007, agreed to contract terms of $3.75 million, 1 year with the New York Yankees who solidified their bullpen behind future Hall of Fame closer Mariano Rivera.  The trade helped the Yanks move closer to being in position to transfer youngster Joba Chamberlain to the starter rotation.

Scotland
Rangers won 2-1 at Hibernian, leaving Celtic in need of victory to retain top spot, and the defending champion got the win through goals by Scott McDonald, Scott Brown and Aiden McGeady.
McDonald put the home side ahead in the 35th with a shot from the edge of the area, and Brown made it 2-0 four minutes after halftime. Celtic controlled the game and twice hit the frame of the goal before McGeady scored with a deflected shot in the final minute.

BRISBANE Lions co-captains Jonathan Brown and Simon Black will miss at least the first two games of the NAB Cup.
Although neither player is in doubt for the opening premiership fixture on March 22, coach Leigh Matthews said the duo will be rested during the early stages of the AFL’s pre-season competition.
"Simon has a bit of a groin issue and won’t be ready," Matthews said.

Jelena Jankovic has announced that she will cut back on her schedule in 2008 – that’s something all of her fans were eagerly waiting for.
The world number three played as much as 97 matches in the 2007 season, more than any other player on the WTA Tour, and as the year progressed she struggled for fitness and form. Jankovic has realized that less is more and that if she wants to avoid injuries, she must plan her schedule a bit wiser.
