A REGULATION nick enhanced an extraordinary career when Adam Gilchrist claimed his record breaking 396th scalp today.

The prolific gloveman passed Ian Healy’s former record when he caught Wasim Jaffer (15) off the bowling of Brett Lee early on day four of the first Test to become Australia’s most successful wicketkeeper.

Gilchrist is now just ten dismissals behind South Africa’s Mark Boucher who holds the all-time record (406).

Australia have a stranglehold on the Test with India fighting hard but holding little chance of batting out the two days and overhauling Australia’s 499 lead.

India went to lunch at 2-56 after Australia dismissed both openers, Jaffer (15) and Rahul Dravid who was snared leg before by an Andrew Symonds offspinner for 16.

Dravid was again slow at the crease taking 116 balls to reach 16 to go with his 66 balls for five in the first innings.
