DENISE Karbon has claimed her third Alpine world cup giant slalom success of the season in as many races.
The 27-year-old clocked the fastest time in both runs in Linz, Austria, to finish 1.28 seconds ahead of American Julia Mancuso, with fellow Italian Nicole Gius snatching third place another 0.34 seconds behind.
Karbon has made a flying start to the season in her favourite discipline after four years hit by knee and ankle injuries.

Despite terms in his West Virginia contract that allowed Rich Rodriguez at least thirty days to make the first payment on his buyout clause, the Mountaineers have decided to sue Coach Rod to collect the buyout.
The buyout clause requires Rodriguez to pay $4 million to WVU over a two-year period, with one-third of the total due 30 days after his employment’s termination. His resignation was effective Dec. 19.

Machining techniques are used widely in the automotive industry for manufacturing different automobile components such as outer body sheets, internal components, and windscreens. Automobiles are produced in an assembly line that requires the same type of components for producing them in large volumes. Different components are prefabricated using machining processes and transferred to the assembly line for final production.
One of the most common automotive machining techniques in use today is known as wire electrical discharge machining (EDM). Wire electric discharge machining (EDM) uses a wire electrode that travels through the conductive work piece. The electrically charged wire is monitored by a Computer Numerically Controlled system (CNC).

At a Regulatory Commission hearing today, a claim for wrongful dismissal from Chelsea’s Ashley Cole was rejected.
He will serve a one-match suspension with immediate effect.
Cole was shown a red card for the denial of an obvious goal scoring opportunity during Chelsea’s game against Aston Villa on Wednesday 26 December.

AUSTRALIAN No.4 Casey Dellacqua may have received a wildcard for the Australian Women’s Hardcourts on the Gold Coast but she was given no favours when the main draw was announced.
The West Australian was drawn to face none other than top seed and world No.12 Nicole Vaidisova in the first round of the $205,000 WTA tournament starting at Royal Pines resort this weekend.

Wild Oats won a third straight Sydney-Hobart title
Australia’s Wild Oats XI became the first boat to claim three straight Sydney-Hobart wins in 59 years.
The 30m (100ft) yacht sailed into the Tasmanian port of Hobart about 2324 GMT on Thursday ahead of City Index, owned by Briton Mike Slade.
