Van Nistelrooy found himself alone in front of goal in the 16th minute to easily power Sneijder’s free kick into the top of the net. Sneijder capped a play sparked by Brazilian Robinho inside the Madrid half by curling a right-footed shot beyond the outstretched Ricardo Lopez in the 76th.
The Edmonton Oil Kings ended their season-high eight game home stand with a shootout loss against the Red Deer Rebels. The Oil Kings have won only two games on home ice.
