Canadian head coach Melody Davidson
CALGARY, AB – Melody Davidson, general manager of Canada’s National Women’s Program and head coach of the National Women’s Under-18 Team, announced Canada’s 20-player roster for the 2008 IIHF World Women’s Under-18 Championship, which will be held January 7-12, 2008 in Calgary, AB.
Canada’s roster includes 15 members of the team that swept the USA’s Women’s Under-18 Select Team in a three-game series in Ottawa in August. Team Canada was selected based on evaluations done by Canada’s coaching and scouting staffs at various events, including the National Women’s Under-19 Program evaluation camp, the National Women’s Under-18 Team series against the USA and the 2007 National Women’s Under-18 Championship.

There is wariness on Tyneside, as elsewhere, to greet a new dawn too soon, but after Newcastle United’s spirited 1-1 draw against Arsenal on Wednesday night at St James’ Park, yesterday brought a welcome feeling of wellbeing, a sense enhanced last night when the largely forgotten Damien Duff was due to appear for the reserves at Manchester United. Duff has not been seen on a football pitch since mid-April.

The Atlanta Constitution Journal is reporting that Navy coach Paul Johnson has agreed to become the next coach at Georgia Tech.
Johnson has the GT contract in hand and is expected to return it this morning.JacketsOnline reports that the deal is for six years at $14 million.
Johnson, whose name has been linked to the open positions at SMU and Duke, is reported to have a team meeting scheduled today and will tell his players that he is leaving for the Yellow Jackets position.
