Jelena Jankovic is a player whose statements very often make me laugh or sometimes confuse me. Many times I just thought why hadn't she kept her mouth shut, but after all, I'm used to Jelena's personality and I will always like and understand her.
Since her statements are at the moment most inspiring of all the other WTA players, I have been collecting them for a few months from a variety of sources, and decided to publish them today. A few weeks after Ole Miss brass announced that head coach Ed Orgeron would be back in 2008, the third-year coach was fired Saturday.
The news comes a day after the Rebels lost to archrival Mississippi State 17-14, capping off a winless SEC season for the first time in over two decades. The Rebels dominated much of the game, but momentum swung after Orgeron opted to go for it on a fourth-and-1 at midfield in the fourth quarter leading 14-0. BenJarvus Green-Ellis was stopped and the Bulldogs staged a frantic rally.

UCLA junior forward Alfred Aboya suffered a fracture of the orbital floor below his right eye during Friday night’s 81-47 win over Yale at Pauley Pavilion.
A member of the UCLA staff told ESPN.com that Aboya will meet with a specialist this weekend to determine if he needs surgery or if he can play with a mask. If he needs the surgery he could be out indefinitely.

Liverpool put the friction between manager Rafael Benitez and the club’s board behind them to beat Newcastle.
Gerrard, booed by Magpies fans for his part in England’s Euro 2008 qualifying failure, answered the jeers by powering in a 30-yard shot for the Reds.

CINCINNATI – Free-agent closer Francisco Cordero has reportedly reached a preliminary agreement on a four-year, US$46-million contract with the Cincinnati Reds.
The deal, which includes a club option for a fifth year, is subject to Cordero passing a physical exam, ESPN.com reported Friday.

SEATTLE – Another 30-point performance and more important, another road win for the New Jersey Nets weren’t enough to satisfy Richard Jefferson.
Not after watching a double-digit lead in the second half nearly disappear and letting the struggling Seattle SuperSonics almost complete a major rally in the closing seconds, before Nets held on for a 98-93 win on Friday night.

MACAU — Pete Sampras showed Roger Federer another side of his American idol on Saturday.
Sampras never faced a break point and converted one of two against his opponent as he handed Federer a 7-6 (8), 6-4 defeat at the Venetian Macao arena, wrapping up a three-match Asian exhibition series between the two tennis greats.

BRISBANE Bullets showed touches of their championship winning form in blowing the Gold Coast out of Saturday night’s National Basketball League local derby.
With Dillon Boucher starting in the absence of skipper Sam Mackinnon (knee) and fellow big Craig Bradshaw (ankle) also out injured, Brisbane reverted to small ball and were too hot for the Blaze to handle.
Boucher failed to score a point in 27 minutes.
