Widnes have continued their rebuilding for next season by signing no less than seven players, headed by Hull KR’s Iain Morrison.

The Vikings, starting from scratch after coming out of administration and being re-admitted to National League One, have enlisted the Scotland international forward following his release by Rovers. He is a player Widnes’ Steve McCormack knows well, having coached him for Scotland.

MONTE CARLO, Monaco (AP) – All of Marion Jones’ results dating to September 2000, including her Olympic and world championship titles, were annulled Friday because of doping. Track and field’s governing body also told her to return prize money from that period.

Wales put a dampener on Germany’s qualifying party here last night with a valiant defensive display by their injury-depleted ranks.

It was a small crumb of comfort to take from a disappointing campaign and it left the hosts to settle for second spot in Group D behind the Czech Republic who earlier won 2-0 in Cyprus. The Wales manager, John Toshack, was able to recall Sam Ricketts from suspension, while Lewin Nyatanga, Carl Fletcher and Robert Earnshaw all played after recovering from injury and illness.

TEMPE, Ariz. — Lawrence Jackson had a message for the Arizona State quarterback before Thursday’s game at Sun Devil Stadium.

“We’re going to come after you a bit today,” the Southern California defensive end said at midfield during the Thanksgiving coin toss.

Looking back, Jackson didn’t think Rudy Carpenter appreciated it much. It’s not that he was looking to start something. He just recognized the situation’s reality. Arizona State, despite its recent revival, had allowed 43 sacks, second most in the country.

O’Neill missed out on the England job last summer

Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill says he is committed to the club and is not interested in the vacant England coach’s position.

Robert Allenby

Melbourne, Australia (Sports Network) – Melbourne’s Robert Allenby bogeyed his final hole Friday, but still managed to remain atop the leaderboard after two rounds of the MasterCard Masters.

The local favorite shot a four-under 68 in round two and completed 36 holes at nine-under-par 135. Allenby is one stroke clear of Aaron Baddeley, who shot a 66 on Friday at Huntingdale Golf Club.
