Tennis Magazine features excellent analysis of top WTA players
Here’s one good read – an article about top Sony Ericsson WTA Tour players "Taking Stock: Bottom line for the top women", that Kamakshi Tandon, assisted by Robert Waltz, wrote for the Official Site of Tennis Magazine. The article deals with world’s top eight players (Justine Henin, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Jelena Jankovic, Ana Ivanovic, Maria Sharapova, Anna Chakvetadze, Serena Williams, and Venus Williams), plus a few more.

Why it’s so valuable? Because it gives both statistical and descriptive look at the players, with additional information on how they stand compared with how they stood in 2006, and where they are headed. Also, each player was given a to-do list for the next season. For example, Ana Ivanovic should “Remember how to serve, even in Grand Slam finals”. True. (thanks to Women Who Serve who I found this through)

6 Nov 2007 VIDEO: England v Andorra Futsal

See highlights and interviews from England’s recent Futsal internationals in Bath.

Hi everyone. I’m writing this week from a not-so-sunny Porto, host city for the final round of the 2007 European Futsal Championships.

Having seen every game so far, it’s been a tournament with everything living up to my expectations. Some flare, tactical brilliance and fantastic goals from the best players in Europe, where set plays have been key for so many teams. Michel Platini was here on Friday for the opening games so there is some interest from the highest level within UEFA.

Whyteleafe’s Church Road ground in East Surrey is one of my favourite locations for football. I went there a lot in the early ‘60s when they only had cover for about six spectators and even that had a hole in the roof. There were gypsies living in a caravan behind one goal and the whole ground looked like it had been hewn out of a very thick wood.

Swinging Sixties
Even today, with cemeteries and allotments around it, it’s one of those grounds where you could be a few yards away and not know it was there. These days I might only visit once a year. Last season it was Whyteleafe 0-0 Walton Casuals in an FA Trophy tie; this season it was Whyteleafe 0-0 Chatham Town in the Ryman Division One South.

Big moment in tall story of Crouch’s unlikely rise to the top
As England’s only fit and proven striker Crouch is certain to start the final Group E qualifier at Wembley.

For Peter Crouch, England’s encounter with Croatia tomorrow offers up what he calls a “defining match”; a contest that will form part of a sporting legacy; maybe even his legacy. “I haven’t had the chance to play in one of those, one that gets us to a World Cup finals or European Championship but this is my chance,” he said yesterday. “Any player who is picked on Wednesday can be a hero and put England through.”
