The Bucknell men’s swimming and diving squad captured one individual win and one relay victory, wrapping up the two-day Bucknell Trials/Finals Invitational on Sunday. The Bison placed second out of the four squads who competed in the weekend’s action. With 857.5 points, Bucknell finished ahead of Binghamton (763 points) and TCNJ (543.5 points), but behind Towson (1,294).
Sophomore Luke Trafton (Bath, Maine/Morse) recorded his second win of the weekend, taking first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of four minutes, 42.16 seconds. Sophomores Ben Leboza (Green Oaks, Ill./Libertyville) and David Iselin (Potomac, Md./Churchill) qualified for the “A” final in that event, as well, finishing fifth (4:48.50) and eighth (4:52.10), respectively.

Andrew Warren had near-perfect shooting as he scored 25 points to lead Bradley past Maryland-Eastern Shore 98-71 in the first round of the South Padre Island Invitational Sunday at Carver Arena.
Bradley (2-1) took a decisive lead early, jumping out to 30-11 just 10 minutes into the game. Daniel Ruffin had 14 points and seven assists for the Braves in the game’s first 18 minutes.

Manitoba Moose
CLEVELAND - Playing their first-ever AHL game against Lake Erie, the Manitoba Moose rallied to beat the Monsters 4-2 Sunday afternoon on strength of four unanswered goals in the second period.
Manitoba out-shot Lake Erie 38-18, and the road victory extends the Moose win-streak to four games.

Steven Stamkos has been on fire in his past five games.
The red-hot centre scored a goal and an assist Sunday against the Ottawa 67s to lead the Sarnia Sting to a 3-1 victory, and now has seven goals and five assists in his past five OHL games.
"They basically controlled the puck in their end and Stamkos controlled the puck in our end," 67′s coach and general manager Brian Kilrea said. "Like all good players – John Tavares, Stamkos – the puck follows them around.”

AUSTRALIA’S football chiefs will make a desperate bid to persuade Jurgen Klinsmann to end his exile from the game, but Johan Neeskens shapes as a more likely candidate to take the Socceroos’ reins cast aside by Dick Advocaat.
It emerged yesterday that Football Federation Australia chairman Frank Lowy knew more than a week ago that Advocaat was preparing to jilt Australia, and that Lowy’s officials held talks with alternative candidates last week.

Fellow tennis blogger Diane of the Women Who Serve made a good point – we have been so busy praising Justin Henin’s fantastic year, Serena Williams' comeback, the success of the Serbian players, and Maria Sharapova’s magnificent end of the season, that we have almost completely forgotten about Amelie Mauresmo.
Of course, there is a clear reason for that – Mauresmo hasn’t lived up to the expectations this year (the sad fact that proves this is that my last three posts that mention the Frenchwoman are Mauresmo stunned early in Zurich, Mauresmo falls in Stuttgart opener, and Mauresmo upset at China Open). However, Amelie is not to blame for all this, appendicitis and a very long period of recovery, followed by an appendicitis-related adductor strain, kept her off the court for much of the season.

Shamari Spears had 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Tyrese Rice scored 12 of his 19 points in the second half as Boston College slowed down Mercer and pulled away for a 73-56 victory on Sunday.
Rakim Sanders had 11 points and nine rebounds for Boston College (3-0). The Eagles were outrebounded 27-17 in the first half, but they turned that into a 26-18 edge in the second to pull away from Mercer (1-3).
