The Bucknell wrestling team will kick off its 2007-08 season on Saturday as the squad will travel to Annapolis, Md., to compete in the Navy Classic. This marks the first official competition of the season for the Orange and Blue after already seeing action as unattached individuals last weekend at the Binghamton Open. At the 2006 Navy Classic, the Bison placed fourth out of 13 teams.

Sophomore Leaders
- Sophomores George Hingson (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area), David Marble (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville Central) and Andy Rendos (Brockway, Pa./Brockway Area) have been elected captains for the Bison for the 2007-08 season. Marble and Rendos were both NCAA qualifiers as freshmen, Rendos with a third-place finish at the EIWA Championships and Marble with a wild card berth after taking sixth at EIWAs. Rendos went 27-6 in his first year with the Orange and Blue and set a program record for dual-meet wins with a 19-3 mark. Marble posted a 24-13 record as a freshman (16-6 in duals) and Hingson was 14-12, overall,11-8 in dual-meet competition.

Several Bison Post Place-winning Performances at Binghamton Open
- Freshman José Matos (Williamstown, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) placed fourth at the Binghamton Open, starting off with three straight wins, a 12-3 major decision over Jon Neafsey of Drexel, an 8-5 victory over Michael Kleeman of Binghamton and a 7-5 win over Frank Perrellio of Cornell. Matos dropped his final two matches of the day, 6-1 to then-ranked No. 17 Steve Mytych of Drexel and 5-4 to Ross Gitomer of Virginia.
- Marble was the runner-up at 133, recording wins over Anthony Jerome of Binghamton (20-6 MD), Bryan Ortenzio of Penn (14-5 MD) and Seth Ciasulli of Lehigh (inj. def.) before falling to Mike Grey of Cornell, 17-7, in the final.
- Freshman Kevin LeValley (Hugo, Colo./Limon) started off his collegiate career by taking third at the Binghamton Open, going 4-1 in the tournament. Three of the four wins posted by the 149-pounder were by major decision, coming against Sean Bilodeau of Lehigh, Cory Mahoney of Cortland and Bret Martinez of Kutztown.
- 157-pounder Brantley Hooks (Spartansburg, S.C./James F. Byrnes) took fourth at his weight, opening with three wins, as he recorded a 2-1 victory against Drew DiPasquale of Virginia, a 10-1 major decision over Benjamin Manderbrout of Boston University and a 3-2 win over Chris Chambers of Kutztown.
- Rendos posted a 3-2 record and finished fourth. He defeated Andy Vaughn of Pittsburgh (11-2 MD), Zak Klinvex of Penn (4-1) and Michael Chaires of Virginia (8-0 MD) before dropping an 11-6 decision to Mack Lewnes of Cornell and losing by sudden victory, 2-0, to then-No. 11 Zack Shanaman of Penn.
- Hingson went 4-1 to place fifth at heavyweight. His four victories included two pins, against Phillip Rhymes and Daniel Dallemore of American International. He also picked up wins over Calvin Cardillo of Virginia (4-3) and Bryan Deinhart of Drexel (5-4).

- The Bison will be back in action next Tuesday, Nov. 20, with an EIWA dual-meet at Army, beginning at 7 p.m.
