A good year got even better for Paula Creamer this past weekend with her dominating win at the LPGA’s Tournament of Champions in Mobile, Alabama. Creamer cruised to an eight-shot victory, firing a final-round 68 for a 20-under total of 268.
The only question in Paula’s mind seemed to be if she could win with the pink ball. The answer was an emphatic yes.

Gillingham striker Luke Freeman made FA Cup history on Saturday, when he became the youngest ever player to feature in a Competition Proper match.
It came at Barnet’s Underhill Stadium, where he came on for central defender Efe Sodje in the 75th minute of the Gills’ First Round Proper tie with the Bees to set the new record.

At 15 years and 233 days, Freeman beat the record previously held by Lee Holmes by 44 days. Holmes, a Derby County midfielder, substituted for Adam Murray in the Rams’ Third Round Proper tie at Brentford on 4 January 2003.

For Steve Bruce, the fundamental problem is simple; English players are simply not very good these days. It is, the Birmingham City manager admitted, sitting in of all places the club’s academy on Friday, a horrible thing for a patriot to find himself saying. He is, it needs pointing out, talking about English players whom he can afford; which means until and unless the takeover of the club is completed, and he has a much bigger budget at his disposal, the only chance he has of strengthening his squad for the relegation battle that surely lies ahead is to do most of his shopping in the foreign market.
