Another champion of sorts for Beltway trainer Jose “Pepe” Correa. Correa guided Cameroon’s Sakio Bika to an eighth-round TKO victory over Queens, New York’s Jaidon Codrington to win the “Contender” title tonight in Boston, MA. Bika captured $750,000 with the victory.
In what was an incredible bout, both fighters traded knockdowns in the very first round and went on to exchange power shots throughout the contest before Bika finally wore down Codrington and stopped him at 2:18 of the eighth round.
Throughout the nationwide telecast, Correa repeatedly said that Bika trained in the area at the Sugar Ray Leonard Boxing Center in Palmer Park, MD.
Bika’s record is now 25-3-2, 15 KO’s. Codrington falls to 18-2, 14 KO’s.
