Frank Yallop will no longer be Alexi Lalas’s whipping boy as he has said ‘good bye and good luck’ to the Galaxy in favor of guiding the reborn San Jose Earthquakes again.
Yallop told LA’s players after Sunday afternoon’s charity exhibition match against Hollywood United. This move comes right before the Galaxy start their post-season world tour.
Fairly or not, Yallop’s time with LA will be looked at as a failure. During his season and a half in charge, the team went 18-21-12 and failed to reach the playoffs both years. His job was made harder by injuries and the craziness that is the Beckham circus, but still, this has been a low point for his career.

I visit Waggle Room very regularly. Often several times a day, in fact.
The prolific and perceptive posts of Mr. Mulligan Stu, keep me up-to-date on all the major happenings in golf, as well as many of the more obscure, anecdotal stories. Additionally, though I’m not fond of statistics, this writer knows how to analyse and present them in interesting, thought provoking ways. He did so yesterday with this post on The LPGA Tour’s eligibility requirements for Hall of Fame membership.
My recent post on Hall of Fame golfer Pak Se-ri, generated quite a passionate response, and I’ve got to admit that I really wasn’t very familiar with the LPGA requirements. Seeing them put into perspective in Waggle Room gives additional insight into the reactions of my readers.

Sooners host Baylor Saturday at Owen Field at 5:30 p.m.
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — The timing of Oklahoma’s bye week gave the Sooners seven extra days to hear about how badly they played in closer-than-expected win at Iowa State, and enough time to fix it too.
After their first four conference games were all decided in the fourth quarter, the No. 4 Sooners (8-1, 4-1 Big 12) returned to the form that had them blowing out opponents early in the season.

Well, we’ve hit that time of year where major league baseball sits in limbo. The awards in both leagues; Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player, the Cy Young Award have not yet been announced and the winter meetings have not commenced.Â
The Free Agency Chase and Trading seasons have not begun in earnest, although rumors abound, such as about Alex Rodriguez’s destination, where Curt Schilling will end up next season or whether Barry Bonds will be anywhere in baseball in 2008.

Black Americans have been prominent in basketball and boxing since time immemorial. What’s noteworthy in the past decade is that they have invaded other sports as well including golf and tennis which used to be dominated by the middle-class whites. And what’s praiseworthy, too, is that the Black Americans that have made a name for themselves in the world of tennis are not males but females and sisters.
We’re talking about none other than the Afro-American Williams sisters – Venus and Serena. Both ladies have proven that race is not a big issue in achieving their dreams in tennis. They are proud of being blacks and they will do anything to fulfill their goals of winning more tennis titles. In their several years of competing against white tennis players, Venus and Serena were able to establish their own style, self-confidence as well as their unique fashion sense. Even more boosting their confidence is the presence of their family members at most of their tournaments. For what they are and for what they have accomplished in their young life, the Williams sisters are indeed worthy of emulation not only by black women but by all people, in general.
