Rookie Andrew Agozzino and Stefan Legein had a field day.
Agozzino scored three goals in a six-goal, first-period outburst and Legein also scored a hat trick as the Niagara IceDogs coasted to a 10-2 victory over the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors Friday night in Ontario Hockey League action.
Agozzino, the first-round selection of the IceDogs in the OHL priority draft last May, scored a short-handed goal and a pair of even-strength goals to increase his total to eight on the season as Niagara gave rookie netminder Will Sibley a rough welcome to the league.
Sibley, a minor league goalie who dressed as a backup for the game while overager Wayne Savage was scratched from the lineup, was pressed into action less than a minute after the opening face-off when starter Chris Carrozzi was injured by one of his own players who went crashing into the net.
The IceDogs, returning to Mississauga for the first time since they were sold in the off-season and moved to St. Catharines, Ont., took advantage of Sibley’s inexperience as they fired 40 shots at him.
Elsewhere in the OHL, it was: Owen Sound 4 Saginaw 1; Oshawa 6 Brampton 3; Kitchener 4 Erie 3 (OT); LOndon 4 Windsor 3 (SO); Barrie 3 Sault Ste. Marie 2; Ottawa 6 Sudbury 2 and Guelph 4 Sarnia 1.
At Mississauga, Ont., Legein scored once in the second period and twice in the third period to push his season total to a team-high 14 for Niagara (11-7-0-0). Jordan Foreman, Michael Swift, Luca Caputi and Drew Schiestel added one each.
The Majors got second-period goals from Kaspars Daugavins and Jesse Messier. It was Mississauga’s third loss in a row and dropped the team’s record to 6-7-1-0.
Andrew Loverock, making his 18th consecutive start of the season in goal for the IceDogs, turned back 22 of 24 shots.

At Saginaw, Ont., the Attack (4-11-1-0) shut down the third best offensive team in the OHL with some steller goaltending from rookie Tyler Beskorowany beating the Spirit (6-7-2-1).
Oshawa 6 Brampton 3
At Brampton, Ont., Brett MacLean scored four goals and Shea Kewin scored twice as the Generals (11-5-0-1) beat the Battalion (9-6-0-2).
Kitchener 4 Erie 3 (OT)
At Kitchener, Ont., Matt Halischuk scored the overtime winner as the Rangers (15-2-0-0) beat the Otters (3-12-2-0).
London 4 Windsor 3 (SO);
At London, Ont., Patrick Maroon scored the shootout winner as the Knights (10-7-0-0) edged the Spitfires (11-4-0-4).
Barrie 3 Sault Ste. Marie 2;
At Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., George Lovatsis scored the game-winner as the Colts (10-7-1-0) beat the Greyhounds (12-5-1-0).
Ottawa 6 Sudbury 2
At Sudbury, Ont., Matt Lahey scored a pair as the 67s (8-7-0-2) scored four first-period goals to pace themselves to the win over the Wolves (4-14-0-0)
Guelph 4 Sarnia 1
At Sarnia, Ont. the Storm (8-8-2-0) scored three third period goals to get past the Sting (10-9-0-0).
