WHL: Everett rally to defeat Brandon

THE CANADIAN PRESS – The Everett Silvertips rebounded after allowing two goals in the game’s first three minutes, defeating the Brandon Wheat Kings 5-2.

Tyler Dittmer opened the scoring for Brandon 2:06 into the first with Brayden Schenn scoring 34 seconds later, before Everett scored five unanswered goals to win the game.

Dan Gendur, Vitali Karamnov, Dane Crowley, Matt Ius and Brennan Sonne scored for Everett (7-6-0-0).

Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Kamloops 5 Kelowna 3, Kootenay 2 Medicine Hat 1 (OT), Prince George 5 Chilliwack 3, Tri-City 5 Portland 1,  Vancouver 4 Moose Jaw 3 (OT), Regina 5 Prince Albert 1, Swift Current 5 Red Deer 4 and Seattle 5 Saskatoon 1.

At Everett, Wash., Shayne Barrie made 27 saves in goal to earn the win for Everett. Joe Caligiuri stopped 31 shots for the Wheat Kings (7-6-0-1).


 

Kamloops 5 Kelowna 3

A t Kamloops, B.C., the Blazers erased a 1-0 first-period deficit with four second-period goals and went on to beat the Rockets. 

Kootenay 2 Medicine Hat 1(OT)

At Cranbrook, B.C., defenceman Chad Greenan scored a power-play goal in overtime to lift the Ice to a win over the Tigers.

Prince George 5 Chilliwack 3

At Prince George, B.C., Alex Poulter scored twice as the Cougars beat the Bruins.

Tri-City 5 Portland 1

Kennewick, Wash., Jason Reese had a hat trick and an assist to lead the Americans to a victory over the Winter Hawks.

Vancouver 4 Moose Jaw 3 (OT)

At Vancouver, Spencer Machacek scored two goals, including the overtime winner, as the Giants beat the Warriors.

Regina 5 Prince Albert 1

At Prince Albert, Sask., Garrett Mitchell scored the winner as the Pats beat the  Raiders.

Swift Current 5 Red Deer 4

At Red Deer, Alta., David Stieler scored twice as the Broncos beat the Rebels.

Seattle 5 Saskatoon 1

At Seattle, Prab Rai got three assists as the Thunderbirds hammered the Blades.
