THE CANADIAN PRESS – Ryan Mior has become the first goalie from the Atlantic provinces to play 200 games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Mior became the sixth goalie in league history to reach the mark, but was pulled halfway through the game as his Gatineau Olympiques defeated the Drummondville Voltigeurs 3-2 in QMJHL action Friday.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: St. John’s 3 P.E.I. 0, Moncton 7 Cape Breton 2, Acadie-Bathurst 6 Saint John 3, Chicoutimi 5 Lewiston 3, Quebec 4 Rouyn-Noranda 1 and Baie-Comeau 5 Shawinigan 3.
At Gatineau, Que., it was the Voltigeurs (5-12-0-1) who raced out to a two-goal lead halfway through the second period with goals from Drew Paris and Garrett Peters.
After Peters’ goal, Mior, who had made nine saves on 11 shots, was replaced by Maxime Clermont. The Olympiques (12-7-0-1) started their comeback a minute after Clermont came in with Mike Hoffman scoring the first goal. Matthew Pistilli tied it early in the third while Darryl Smith scored the winner with 2:02 left.
Clermont made six saves.
Bradley Dyke stopped 37 shots for the Voltigeurs.
Fog Devils 3, Rocket 0
At Charlottetown, Timo Pielmeier made 42 saves for the shutout as St. John’s beat P.E.I..
Wesley Welcher scored twice and Pat O’Keefe finished the scoring for the Fog Devils (8-8-1-1)
Antoine Lafleur turned away 25 shots for the Rocket (7-9-1-0).
Wildcats 7, Screaming Eagles 2
At Moncton, N.B., Matt Marquardt scored a pair of goals as the Wildcats beat Cape Breton.
Mark Barberio also added a pair, with Zach Sill, Randy Cameron and Matt Eagles adding goals for Moncton (7-9-1-1).
Alex Lamontagne and Beau Prokopetz replied for the Screaming Eagles (13-4-1-0).
Titan 6, Sea Dogs 3
At Bathurst, N.B., Tomy Joly scored a hat trick as Acadie-Bathurst beat Saint John.
Jordan Clendenning, Charles-Antoine Messier and Mathieu Perreault also scored for the Titan (7-7-1-1).
Keven Guerette-Charland, Christopher DiDomenico and Brett Gallant scored for the Sea Dogs (9-4-0-1).
Antoine Tardif made 20 saves for the Titan, while Travis Fullerton turned away 30 shots for the Sea Dogs.
Sagueneens 5, Maineiacs 3
At Lewiston, Maine, Derek Famulare had four assists as Chicoutimi defeated the Maineiacs.
Francis Verreault-Paul had a pair of goals while Nicolas Deschamps, Olivier Ouellet and Joel Champagne also scored for the Sagueneens (8-9-0-0).
Alexander Beaton, Marc-Andre Daneau and Dave Taylor scored for the Maineiacs (8-7-1-0).
Bobby Nadeau made 27 saves for the Sagueneens, while Jonathan Bernier turned away 25 shots for the Maineiacs.
Remparts 4, Huskies 1
At Quebec, Maxime Lacroix scored a pair of goals as Quebec beat Rouyn-Noranda.
Kelsey Tessier and Jonathan Audy-Marchessault also scored for the Remparts (9-7-0-1).
Ivan Vishnevskiy replied for the Huskies (9-4-2-1).
Kevin Desfosses made 19 saves for the Remparts, while Huskies starter Guillaume Blouin was pulled after 10 minutes, allowing three goals on eight shots. He was replaced by Milan Pucholt, who made 24 saves.
Drakkar 5, Cataractes 3
At Shawinigan, Que., Francois Bouchard scored twice as Baie-Comeau beat the Cataractes.
Gabriel Bourque also added a pair, while Benjamin Breault scored as well for the Drakkar (11-4-0-2).
Pierre-Alexandre Vandall scored both goals for the Cataractes (6-7-0-2).
Mathieu Leclair made 29 saves for the Drakkar, while Kevin Maletto turned away 29 shots for the Cataractes.
