Lol: Things are not rosy

Dallaglio: Has failed to fully back Brian Ashton

England may have upset the odds to reach the World Cup final, however that has not been enough to earn Brian Ashton the support of one of his players.

Lawrence Dallaglio has insisted that “everything isn’t rosy” because England reached the final and believes changes need to be made within the system.

And with Ashton’s rolling contract due to me reviewed by the Rugby Football Union’s director of elite rugby Rob Andrew in December, Dallaglio has failed to fully back the England chief.

He said: “There are system changes that need to be made – whether that’s personnel is not my decision.

“Everything isn’t rosy just because we got to a World Cup final.

Interesting

“It’s been an interesting couple of weeks.

“There have been no new contracts dished out yet. You need to ask Rob Andrew really – ultimately it’s his job to ultimately decide where English rugby goes.”

Dallaglio believes that the right decision about the future will be made in the winter – with the former England captain putting his faith in Andrew to make the right decision.

He added: “Brian Ashton turned things around, but then again so have the players and all the coaches.

“I think a review will be done, by the right people. Rob will head it up and I’m sure he’ll make the right decisions.”
