VANCOUVER — Vancouver Canucks forward Ryan Kesler says he was surprised but appreciated a telephone call from Jesse Boulerice of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Boulerice called to apologize for the vicious cross-check he delivered to Kesler’s face during an 8-2 Flyers win over the Canucks last Wednesday.
“It caught me off guard,” Kesler said Monday. “I didn’t know who it was at first.

So let’s put it in the perspective of the great international comebacks in the history of English sport.
Let’s go back to Headingley 26 years ago and remember the uniquely glorious Ashes slog of Sir Ian Botham against the Australians. Then, because we must, all justice and analysis demands, rush back to the Stade de France and say, without a millisecond of hesitation, that what happened here on Saturday night was the best expression of a national sporting will we are ever likely to see.
Of course there are rivals. Botham’s feat will never shrivel with time – no more than the nerve and belief of Sir Alf Ramsey’s World Cup winners when a late shadow crossed their ambition at Wembley in 1966.

Kurt Warner sustained torn ligaments in his non-throwing elbow in Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers, according to multiple reports.
Warner, who is scheduled to undergo an MRI today, sent out an e-mail to family members informing them of the injury, according a Yahoo! report. The injury occurred when Julius Peppers landed on the elbow and bent it awkwardly.
The results of the MRI aren’t likely to be known until Tuesday. The Cardinals signed backup QB Tim Hasselbeck on Monday, according to the Arizona Republic. Hasselbeck will back up new starter Tim Rattay, who threw three interceptions against the Panthers in Week 6.

Tom Brady
Of all the 32 National Football League teams, the New England Patriots fascinate me to the highest degree.
The Indianapolis Colts are a close second and the Dallas Cowboys, for obvious reasons, I will always have interest in. But I find the Patriots, well, interesting. Their ability to win consistently despite adversity is more than just impressive because in many situations it is magical.
