The 2009 Canadian men’s curling championships will be held at the city’s Pengrowth Saddledome from March 7 to 15.
It’s the sixth time Calgary has hosted the event. The Alberta city last hosted the Brier in 2002, attracting 245,296 fans, the third-highest in tournament history. The attendance record is 281,985, set in Edmonton in 2005.
The 2008 tournament will be held March 8-16 in Winnipeg.
The Canadian Curling Association also announced Friday that Tim Hortons has renewed its title sponsorship of the Brier through 2010 and will also sponsor the 2009 Canadian Curling Trials.
