Blues to host NFL Giants

New York Giant: Michael Strahan

New York Giants will use Chelsea’s training facilities ahead of their London clash with Miami Dolphins.

The Giants meet Miami at Wembley Stadium in the first ever NFL regular season game outside North America in week seven – live on Sky Sports – and Premier League side Chelsea will host the Giants at their Cobham complex outside London.

The Giants will spend two days with Chelsea before facing the Dolphins on Sunday October 28 and Blues’ stars John Terry and Didier Drogba will serve as “honorary captains” for the Giants on game day.

The partnership was announced on Thursday by Chelsea and the NFL and Giants’ coach Tom Coughlin has been told he will be impressed by Chelsea’s facilities.

He said: “They told me, ‘Coach, you are going to have a tear in your eye when you see the fields at Chelsea’s facility. You’ve only seen practice fields this beautiful in your dreams.”

The match at Wembley is a sell-out and more than a million requests were made for tickets for the 90,000-seater venue.

The Giants are likely to head into the contest as favourites having won two on the bounce in week’s three and four while there is a fear in Miami that the Dolphins will still be looking for their first win of the season in London, having lost four on the spin at the start of the new season.

You can watch Miami take on New York Giants live on Sky Sports 2 from 4.30pm on Sunday October 28.
