Ronaldo sets goal target

Ronaldo: Tough target

Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo believes he is capable of matching last season’s goal tally.

The Portuguese stole the plaudits last season as he delivered not just numerous assists but 23 goals, a phenomenal total for a wide player.

United concluded the campaign by ended a four-year wait for a Premier League title and at the hub of their success, a creative epicentre, was the irrepressible Ronaldo.

While some players may have contented themselves with such success, Ronaldo is eager not to rest on his laurels, as he sets further tall targets for himself this term.

And having bagged winners at both Sporting Lisbon and Birmingham in the last fortnight, few would back against him realising his ambitions.

“Twenty-three goals is a lot for a winger,” he conceded at the launch of his book Moments.

“To score that number made it a special season indeed.

“But I believe in myself. I feel I can do better, or at least equal what I did last year and I will be trying hard to do exactly that.”
