THE stand-off at the Kangaroos between the board and the coach is at flashpoint.
Eleven days after the Roos completed their 2007 season, the club and coach Dean Laidley remain at odds over a new contract.
The situation has deteriorated in recent weeks to the point where those reasonably assumed to be in the know are fearful of an irreconcilable split.
Those who watched the St. Louis Rams open the season sensed quarterback Marc Bulger couldn’t survive long under the number of hits he took.

Amare Stoudemire
PHOENIX – Phoenix Suns centre Amare Stoudemire underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Tuesday.
Team orthopedic surgeon Dr. Thomas Carter performed the surgery at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital. As expected, a loose particle that caused inflamation was removed from Stoudemire’s right knee.
PERTH Wildcats continued their dominance over South Dragons, crushing the NBL second year franchise 97-81 at Melbourne’s Vodafone Arena.

Five riveting left hooks to the belly stunned and hurt Santos at the 2:12 mark of the 1st, and Peterson continued to apply heat with withering punches.
A team source has told ESPN’s Ed Werder that San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback Alex Smith is seeking a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews after preliminary MRI results indicated he appears to have suffered a serious injury to tendons in his right shoulder in Sunday’s game.
